Renovation works have been completed in the play area of Santa Margerita Garden in Bormla. The project was led by the Bormla Local Council with financial support from the Capital Projects Funding Scheme for Accessibility and Mobility, managed by the Local Government Division. With an investment of over €90,000, the works included a general refurbishment of the site, the planting of trees and shrubs, and the installation of brand-new play equipment.

During a visit to the site, the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government, Alison Zerafa Civelli, together with the Mayor of Bormla, Marco Agius, highlighted that the council had received €200,000 in total from the same scheme. These funds have not only supported improvements in Santa Margerita Garden but have also financed works in another garden located in Triq San Ġwann and the upcoming installation of new lighting in Daħlet Tlett Ibliet.

Parliamentary Secretary Zerafa Civelli explained that these projects aim to enhance the appearance and livability of the area, offering residents more open and welcoming spaces. She noted that such efforts align with the broader Malta 2050 Vision.

Mayor Marco Agius expressed his gratitude for the government’s support and underlined how such schemes enable local councils to invest in new initiatives without using their core budget. He emphasised that local councils are best placed to understand and address the unique needs of their communities.
