Ronaldinho’s mother dies after contracting COVID-19

Early this morning, Brazilian media reported that football legend Ronaldinho’s mother has died due to COVID-19 complications.

The former Barcelona star’s mother, Miguelina, was admitted to hospital after contracting the virus in December and died at the age of 71.

Many fellow footballers got in touch with Ronaldinho to give their condolences, amongst them Messi who sent the Brazilian ‘a lot of strength and a big hug’ for the whole family via Instagram message.

Man seriously injured after being burned, likely because of a candle

A man was seriously injured in his own residence in Msida, early this morning at around midnight.

A man who is 41-years-old suffered serious burns in parts of his body. The police think that that the burns were likely caused by a candle.

The man was admitted to Mater Dei and investigations are still underway.

USA officially rejoins the Paris Climate accord

On Friday, the USA officially rejoined the international agreement to limit global warming known as the Paris Agreement.

Just hours after being sworn into office, President Joe Biden signed an executive order which kick-started the 30-day process for the US to reenter the global agreement.

The US has exited the agreement late last year on an order which came from former PResident, Donald Trump.

All UK adults are to be offered the COVID-19 vaccine by the end of July

The UK Prime Minister has pledged that all UK adults will be offered the COVID-19 vaccine by the end of July.

Over 17 million UK citizens have been given the jab since they started the rollout in December of 2020.

The Prime Minister said that the July target would allow vulnerable people to be protected sooner and it would also aid in the relieving of lockdown rules.
