Roderick Sciortino Passes Away 5 Days After Fight At Local Resort

Roderick Sciortino died on Thursday, five days after a fight at the Seabank Resort and Spa in Mellieħa.

The altercation occurred on Saturday by the poolside, where Sciortino was allegedly punched by British tourist Liam Joseph Stacey.

Sciortino had been celebrating his daughter’s first birthday with his partner Alexia Meilak and her family.

He was hospitalised shortly after the incident and placed in intensive care.

Meilak told the court he had a pre-existing health condition and was being kept alive by machines. His exact cause of death is still under investigation.

Stacey has been charged with causing grievous injuries and denies the charges.

The Santa Marija Musical Society in Ħal Għaxaq honoured Sciortino with a social media tribute post, hailing him as a loyal member and feast enthusiast.
