Maya took to Facebook to shed a light on the shocking nature of this situation by quoting the exact words of parents from the opposite team.

The Malta Football Association released a statement expressing solidarity with the player and that it is currently investigating the incident, along with the police.

Meanwhile, opposing team Mosta FC could face a €17,000 fine and point-deduction within the league due to the racist attacks.

This should not be the state of our country in 2021, let Maya’s situation be a catalyst for change and growth in our country.

Our thoughts are with Maya Lucia – NO TO RACISM, now and forever.
