Road Cleaning and Signage Works to Avoid Peak Traffic Hours

Transport Minister Chris Bonett has announced that an agreement in principle will soon be signed with Clean Malta to ensure road cleaning and signage works on arterial roads are no longer carried out during peak traffic hours.
The agreement is set to be formalised in the coming hours during the ongoing EXPO and forms part of the government’s broader strategy to address Malta’s persistent traffic problems.
Minister Bonett made the announcement during a conference organised by the Malta Institute of Management, which focused on Malta’s infrastructural challenges.
The event brought together representatives from public entities, NGOs, and political parties to discuss infrastructure, development, sustainability, and tourism.
As part of the government’s wider plan to reduce traffic congestion, Minister Bonett also highlighted increased investment in sea transport.
He revealed that from next summer, a new ferry terminal in Buġibba will become operational, enhancing connectivity and offering commuters an alternative to road transport.
The minister underscored the government’s long-term vision to expand and improve maritime transport as a sustainable solution to traffic woes, while also reducing environmental impact.
The new agreement with Clean Malta is expected to significantly reduce unnecessary disruptions on the road network during busy hours.
