Tony Zahra, President of the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association (MHRA) has told The Malta Independent that the first week of restaurants reopening was ‘better than expected’ after establishments opened their doors on 10 may after two months.
At the moment, establishments are allowed to open until 5pm, providing only take-away afterwards but will be able to serve tables until 12am as from 24 May, revealing that they have had very positive responses with encouraging demand.
The MHRA President went on to state that he expects June to be a slower month compared to other summer months but expects work to build-up over time, concluding by stating that while we can’t celebrate just yet, we remain hopeful for further business.
