Remembrance Sunday & Armstice Day Are Just Around The Corner!

Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day will once again be marked this November, honouring those who fought and gave their lives in the name of freedom.
Organised by Royal British Legion Malta GC Branch, Armistice Day will be commemorated on 11 November, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, with a ceremony at the Saluting Battery in the Upper Barrakka Gardens. The date marks the moment in 1918 when the guns fell silent, ending the First World War.
Remembrance Sunday, which falls on the Sunday closest to Armistice Day, will see a solemn Mass celebrated at St John’s Co-Cathedral, followed by a ceremonial parade at the War Memorial in Floriana. The event pays tribute to Maltese and Commonwealth soldiers who served in both world wars and subsequent conflicts.
Each year, the number of veterans able to attend grows smaller, making the presence of their relatives and supporters increasingly significant. Participants will wear the traditional red poppy, a symbol of remembrance and gratitude for the courage and sacrifice of those who served.
These annual commemorations are a moment for reflection, unity and respect, reminding younger generations of the price of peace. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the ceremonies and observe the two-minute silence in honour of the fallen.
