A beautification project for a recreational space in Mqabba was inaugurated by Minister for Cultural Heritage, Arts, and Local Government Owen Bonnici, Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli, and Mqabba Mayor Grace Marie Zerafa.
The project at Ġnien il-Mentna in Jubilee Square, which cost around €55,000, was partially funded by the ‘Financing Capital Projects – More Beautiful and Healthier Communities’ scheme from the Local Government Division. This scheme aims to provide financial assistance to local councils for various community projects.
Minister Owen Bonnici highlighted that the Ġnien il-Mentna project reflects the commitment of both the government and the local council to enhance the quality of life for residents. The project included resurfacing walls, installing a new lighting system, swings, plants, and a security camera system, making the space safer and more enjoyable for families and strengthening community bonds.
Parliamentary Secretary Zerafa Civelli commended the Mqabba Local Council for their initiative in regenerating and beautifying the area. She affirmed the government’s dedication to providing local councils with the necessary resources to carry out projects that meet the changing needs of residents.
Mayor Grace Marie Zerafa emphasized the council’s efforts in applying for funding schemes to benefit the community, particularly children, and improve their quality of life. Several members of the Mqabba local council were also present at the inauguration.
