The Spanish champions Real Madrid have reached yet another UEFA Champions League final after coming from 3 goals down late on in the tie against Manchester City. Los Blancos will now face yet another English opposition in the final, this time against Liverpool. The two teams played against each other in the Champions League final back in 2018, which was Real Madrid’s last final appearance.

The first half didn’t feature much, with both teams looking anxious to make a first move. All that changed in the second half when Manchester City winger Riyadh Mahrez sent the away fans into a frenzy scoring from a powerful shot. Everyone thought that the tie was over until the 90th minute when Madrid’s young winger Rodrygo scored a goal to liven up the game. It didn’t take long for Real Madrid to find the all important equalizer as only a minute after his goal, Rodrygo managed to find the back of the net again this time sending the tie into extra time.
When extra time started it was clear who had the mental advantage over who. The City players looked depleted and deflated whilst the Real Madrid players were as motivated as ever to find the winner to send them to the Champions League final in Paris. Again the Real Madrid fans didn’t have to wait long as in the 95th minute star striker Karim Benzema coolly converted a penalty despite the amount of pressure placed on him. The goal sent Real Madrid into the final with their eyes now set on a record extending fourteenth Champions League title.
