Rangers Stop Over 10 Illegal Fires At Għadira Bay

Rangers extinguished more than ten illegal fires last week at Għadira Bay, as part of an ongoing effort with Mellieħa Local Council to improve safety and cleanliness in the area.
Several fires were lit directly on the ground or near vegetation, with some as dangerously less than a metre close, to protected Tamarisk trees. In many cases, no water or fire extinguisher was present, increasing the risk of wildfires.
Barbecuing at Għadira Bay is only allowed with gas BBQs in the designated area. Charcoal BBQs require special approval.
Authorities urge the public to follow the rules and BBQ safely. More information is available in the official BBQ guide and breach of regulations can lead to fines between €100 and €500 per person.
