Ramona Attard Opens Up On Her Childhood Road Accident

Speaking on ONE News, Labour MP Ramona Attard recounted her personal experience when she was younger of being run over by a car and risked losing her ability to walk.
Addressing the recently proposed law amendments that crack down on road accidents that lead to fatalities, especially concerning drunk driving, Attard said that such a law ‘hits home’.
The upcoming reform will include roadside drug testing, similar to existing alcohol breath tests, and the introduction of random checks without the need for reasonable suspicion.
Key measures include: effective prison sentences for drivers who cause a death while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, harsher fines for offenders, and expanded powers for prosecutors to request licence suspensions while cases are pending.
This follows an increased concern over road fatalities and accidents on Maltese roads, leading to a public outcry for more stringent enforcement.
