Prime Minister Afraid To Debate, PN Leader Says
Feb 22 2024 Share

Speaking during an interview on NET Television’s Spotlight, Opposition Leader Bernard Grech said that Prime Minister Robert Abela is afraid of having a debate with him.

During the interview, Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech said that whenever he was asked to do an interview or even a debate, he did so.

He alleged that he forms part of a thread of emails with the Prime Minister which ask for a debate.

He says that he would accept these invitations but the Prime Minister would not, leading to the aforementioned conclusion.

Grech claimed that the Prime Minister is afraid of appearing in a spot where he will lose on an issue, so he decides to appear where he has control.

The Opposition Leader says that he remains open for debate not because he loves this confrontational aspect of politics but because the people deserve to hear the ideas.

Grech also made reference to the University debate which, he says, was accepted by the Prime Minister ahead of the general election because debaters could not speak over each other and everything was timed – even hinting at the crowd’s response as yet another sign of the prime minister’s control in the situation.

He concluded by saying that the Prime Minister wants to come off as not afraid but is in reality very afraid to face the opposition.

What do you make of this?

Joseph Muscat Suggests Maltese Falcon For New League Logo
Feb 22 2024 Share

Malta Premier League chairman and former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat advocates for incorporating the Maltese Falcon into a fresh logo representing the nation’s top football league.

Muscat, alongside the Malta Football Association, revealed plans for a public call to redesign the league’s brand identity. This initiative, contentious for its proposal to replace the traditional league with a split season, aims to establish a logo that aligns closely with Malta’s heritage and contemporary culture.

Muscat argues for the prominence of the Maltese Falcon, citing its international recognition and symbolic potential, alongside the Maltese Cross.

He emphasizes the significance of a mascot-related logo, akin to the English Premier League’s Lion, in creating an iconic image. Additionally, Muscat announced a competition for designing a new championship trophy, to be held by the reigning champions for a year.

Submissions for both initiatives will be accepted until March 15th, with winners to be announced by May 31st. The winning brand identity submission will receive €2,000, and the winning trophy design will be awarded €1,000. However, the PPL reserves the right to withhold the award if submissions fail to meet the requisite standards.
