PN Launches Locality Based Carrying Capacity Studies Initiative

In response to Malta’s rapidly growing population and increasing pressure on infrastructure, the Partit Nazzjonalista (PN) has launched an initiative to conduct carrying capacity studies in every locality across Malta and Gozo.

This move aims to ensure that infrastructure investment reflects the real needs of residents and supports sustainable development.

The proposal, a key pledge in the PN’s 2024 local council election campaign, was formally announced by Party Leader Bernard Grech during a press conference at Gardjola Gardens in Senglea.

He confirmed that PN councillors will soon present motions in each local council where they are elected, calling for scientific studies to determine the infrastructure and service requirements of their communities.

Grech criticised the Labour Government for failing to address the consequences of rapid population growth, which he said has led to worsening road congestion, inadequate waste management, and increasing strain on public services.

He emphasised that proper planning must be informed by accurate data and real local needs, not guesswork.

The PN’s initiative is intended to give every locality a roadmap for sustainable growth, with the goal of safeguarding residents’ quality of life and upholding the dignity of every citizen.
