The Nationalist Party has strongly urged the government to tackle the pressing issue of power cuts, expressing grave concern over the hardships faced by families and businesses alike.
In a press conference, the PN emphasized the need for accountability from Robert Abela’s government for the frequent disruptions in electricity service and demanded fair compensation for those adversely affected.
The Opposition, with Mark Anthony Sammut and David Agius addressing a press conference, are calling for the establishment of an automatic compensation process for individuals enduring prolonged power outages and voltage instability, as initially suggested in 2021.
The PN also proposed making significant investments in the network and distribution infrastructure to enhance overall reliability.
This call was echoed by Jason Micallef, who, given the extended hours of power cuts, also emphasised compensations in the form of power bill discounts.
On their part, Enemalta took to social media to state that ‘teams of engineers and technicians are currently working on multiple faults being registered. Where possible, customers are being reconnected through other connections in the same area.’
‘In those cases where route switching is not possible, electricity supply will be restored once repair works are finalised.’
