The Government will continue working tirelessly to strengthen employment conditions and social protection for all workers, Prime Minister Robert Abela said during a Budget 2026 consultation meeting with representatives from the Forum Unions Maltin at the Auberge de Castille.

Robert Abela emphasised that, year after year, successive budgets have clearly shown this administration’s commitment to improving the quality of life of both public and private sector employees. He underlined that collective agreements remain the foundation of a stable and respectful relationship between workers and the administration.Over the past three and a half years alone, more than 110 collective agreements have been signed, improving working conditions and increasing the wages of over 40,000 employees.

The Prime Minister noted that, thanks to a stable and resilient economy, Malta will once again deliver a budget without any tax increases.

At the same time, the Government will continue to honour the social pact on the minimum wage, ensuring another increase in the coming year, according to the statement.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government’s ongoing investment in skills development and training, aimed at guaranteeing that Maltese and Gozitan workers have access to the best opportunities for professional growth.

This includes investment in vocational courses, training programmes, and initiatives designed to enhance productivity and job quality.

The meeting was also attended by Minister Roderick Galdes, Parliamentary Secretaries Andy Ellul and Alicia Bugeja Said, and Colonel Mark Mallia, Head of the OPM Secretariat.
