During the opening of the Public Service Expo, Prime Minister Robert Abela announced a landmark €4 million AI investment in partnership with Microsoft.

This initiative will introduce Microsoft Copilot, an advanced AI productivity tool, across the Public Service, benefiting 8,000 employees over the next two years.

Each employee will receive training and access to the tool directly on their laptops, ensuring seamless integration into daily operations.

A key element of this strategy is the establishment of a Centre of Excellence, operated jointly by Microsoft, the Government, and MITA. This hub will serve as an innovation platform, supporting ongoing AI adoption across departments and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Prime Minister Abela described this investment as a cornerstone of Vision Malta 2050, a forward-looking strategy focused on technological transformation.

He affirmed that AI will not replace people but empower them, making roles more effective and freeing up time for higher-value work.

“We are placing Malta at the forefront of digital public administration in Europe,” he said.
