Pete Buttigieg and husband Chasten announced the adoption of twins

Pete Buttigieg and husband Chasten announced the adoption of twins

Maltese-American US transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg announced alongside his husband Chasten the birth of their adopted twins. Writing to social media, Buttigieg said that the couple are delighted to welcome Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg to their family. This follows the update last month that the couple were in the process of adoption, but they were not ready to disclose any information at that point in time.

Joseph is named for Buttigieg’s father who was a Notre Dame professor who sadly passed away in 2019. The Washington Post reported in July that the couple had put themselves on lists to adopt any abandoned or surrendered children as they prepared to become parents. Chasten revealed how the adoption cycle is filled with frustration and hope, as some parents change their mind about putting children up for adoption and the process itself is quite tedious. The couple seems to have finally made another of their wishes come true as they welcome their new family members!

Labour shoots further up trust meter as PN still behind

Labour shoots further up trust meter as PN still behind

Prime Minister Robert Abela continues to bask in a 22 point lead over Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech in the trust barometer. Despite the more recent findings of the Daphne Caruana Galizia public inquiry, the labour party has avoided any catastrophic trust damage as the survey head between 25th of August and 2nd September by MaltaToday shows. No survey was held in August, but the survey captures the overall trust in government following the inquiry and racking, but as of yet unconfirmed, rumours about a November general election.

Abela stands at a 51.5% trust rating, losing only 0.1 points since July. On the other hand, Opposition leader Grech scored 29.5%, a change relatively unmoved since July. The Labour Party seems to have a lead of more than 33,000 votes, showing a drop in 6,000 votes since July. 17.8% of those surveyed preferred neither leader or party.
