After seven month’s of traversing through space, NASA’s Perseverance Rover will begin searching for life on Mars after landing on Martian soil, with NASA’s mission control reporting “Touchdown confirmed.”
The rover sent back the first black-and-white images of rocky land in the Jezero Crater within 11 minutes, which is the length of time it takes from radio signals to return to Earth.
Perseverance will embark on a mission to collect 30 fragments of rock and soil, seal them in tubes and send them back to Earth sometime around 2030 for analysis.
