A peaceful protest was held in front of Valletta’s Triton Fountain to honour the memory of 42-year-old Khim Bahadur Pun, a Nepali man who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run incident in Birkirkara on 10 August.

Pun, who had been living in Malta for three years, worked as a food courier to support his three children.

He was riding a Kymco motorbike when he was struck by a Maserati allegedly driven by an unlicensed 17-year-old, with two 18-year-old passengers on board. After the collision, the Maserati crashed into three parked cars before all occupants fled the scene on foot. Police later arrested the three.

The incident has sparked an outpouring of support from the community, with over €29,000 raised for Pun’s repatriation to Nepal.

Protesters carried signs reading “Workers’ rights matter” and “Stop underage killers!” as they demanded justice and stronger protections for workers.

The vigil served both as a tribute to Pun’s life and a call for accountability.
