Over 84 Fines Issued By Malta Police x RoadPol Inspection

The Maltese Police joined forces with member countries of RoadPol (the European Roads Policing Network) to carry out inspections on trucks and passenger vehicles.
These inspections were part of the RoadPol initiative called “European Truck and Bus Week,” which took place between the 5th and 11th of May, 2025.
In total, around 30 road checks were conducted on various main roads in both Malta and Gozo, during which more than 370 vehicles were stopped.
A total of 84 citations were issued, charges were filed against 14 drivers, and one vehicle was confiscated.
During these inspections, vehicles were checked for several safety and compliance aspects, including the presence and validity of fire extinguishers, vehicle maintenance conditions, whether the load exceeded the allowed limits, and the availability of first-aid kits.
Among the citations issued were those for drivers not wearing seat belts, improperly functioning or unlit lights, driving without a valid license, and using a mobile phone while driving.
