In May 2025, Malta welcomed an estimated 374,297 inbound tourists, marking a 6.3% increase compared to May 2024. Of these, 347,317 visited for holiday purposes, while 17,910 travelled for business.

The majority of tourists were aged between 25 and 44 (36.3%), followed by those aged 45 to 64 (31.9%). Visitors from the United Kingdom, Italy, and France together accounted for 44.7% of the total.

The total number of guest nights surpassed 2.2 million, reflecting an 8.6% increase year on year. Most guest nights (90.7%) were spent in rented accommodation.

The average length of stay was 5.9 nights. Tourist expenditure in May 2025 reached nearly €363.6 million, representing a 16.9% rise compared to the same month in 2024.

The average expenditure per night stood at €165.

A total of 222,002 tourists visited Gozo and Comino in May, either for the day or overnight, making up 59.3% of all tourists.

Between January and May 2025, inbound tourists totalled 1,418,954, an increase of 14.3% compared to the same period in 2024.

Total nights spent rose by 14.7% to almost 8.2 million. Tourist spending during this period was estimated at €1,168.3 million, up 21.9% from the previous year.

Per capita expenditure increased to €823, compared to €772 in 2024. Gozo and Comino received 748,755 visitors, 52.8% of the total.
