Over 2,100 Road Checks Carried Out So Far This Year Across Malta And Gozo

In response to a parliamentary question, Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment, Byron Camilleri provided a detailed update on traffic control activities carried out under his Ministry’s remit.

Minister Camilleri reported that between 1st January and 30th July 2025, the Malta Police Force conducted a total of 2,116 traffic control operations (road checks) across the Maltese Islands.

In certain instances, the Armed Forces of Malta also provided assistance, highlighting the inter-agency collaboration in maintaining road safety and security.

Additionally, the LESA Agency informed that it had carried out over 50 roadside inspections during the same period. These inspections are in addition to the agency’s ongoing round-the-clock patrol and enforcement duties, which take place 24 hours a day across all regions.
