Police Carried Out 85 Road Checks In One Week

Local
Taking to social media, Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment Byron Camilleri said that in just one week, the Malta Police Force held 85 road checks.
In the process, 2,260 vehicles were stopped and 220 contraventions were issued.
These include 5 drivers driving whilst intoxicated with alcohol and 60 others who were fined for excessive velocity.
Others were found to be driving without a license and/or without a seatbelt.
The effort follows the announcement of proposed stricter road rules, especially when it comes to drunk-driving after concerns of increased road accidents and fatalities on local roads.
