Over 2 Million Tourists Visited Malta Between January-August 2025

Inbound tourism to Malta continued to rise in August 2025, with total arrivals estimated at 470,643, representing an increase of 11.5% over the same month in 2024.
Of these, 450,599 visitors travelled to Malta for holiday purposes, while 11,039 visited for business. The largest proportion of tourists were aged between 0 and 24 years (37.1%), followed by those aged 25 to 44 (34.2%).
Italian, British, and French residents accounted for almost half of all arrivals, making up 48.5% of the total. Tourists spent an estimated 3.5 million nights on the islands, up by 10.5% compared with August 2024.

Rented accommodation remained the most popular choice, accounting for 86.1% of guest nights. The average length of stay was 7.4 nights. Expenditure reached €547.6 million, an increase of 15.0%, with the average spend per night calculated at €158.3.
Gozo and Comino attracted 326,196 visitors, equivalent to 69.3% of all tourists in August. Between January and August 2025, total inbound tourists reached 2,681,635, an annual increase of 12.0%.
Nights spent rose by 10.4% to 16.9 million, while total expenditure was estimated at €2.56 billion, up 18.2%. Per capita spending increased to €956, compared with €906 in 2024. Gozo and Comino welcomed 1,577,212 visitors, or 58.8% of the total.
