The Malta Ranger Unit (MRU) has posted a video urging parents to speak to their teenagers about fire safety and the legal restrictions surrounding fires.

Malta Ranger Unit said in a Facebook post, “Kindling a fire like this in Mellieħa is first and foremost illegal as per Bye-Law. It’s also severely dangerous to kindle it up against a building! These teenagers had zero sense of fire safety.”

The call follows a report received about teenagers setting fire to cardboard left at Għadira beach by unknown individuals.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the Malta Ranger Unit in protecting both the environment and public safety. It reinforces their commitment to education and their calls for stronger legal frameworks to prevent such occurrences.
