Malta International Airport Announces Italy, the United Kingdom and Germany as Most Popular August Holiday Markets.

As the peak summer holidays drew to a close in August, Malta International Airport (MIA) reported that Italy was its largest market, accounting for over 21% of total passenger movements. With direct connections to 17 Italian destinations, Rome Fiumicino and Catania Fontanarossa topped the list of most popular airports for travellers.

The United Kingdom followed closely with a 20% market share, with London Gatwick standing out as the most frequented airport.

Germany and France secured third and fourth place on the market leaderboard, each contributing 8% of total traffic. Meanwhile, Poland rose to fifth place, overtaking Spain with a 7% share of passenger movements.

In total, 1,072,390 passengers travelled through Malta International Airport in August.

The busiest day recorded on 14 August, the eve of the Santa Maria public holiday, when 39,082 passengers passed through the terminal.
