Official: Keith Demicoli resigns from TVM

The media scene is in shock after the surprising news that beloved Maltese media personality and journalist Keith Demicoli has resigned from PBS

Sources close to Malta Daily have confirmed that Demicoli officially submitted his letter of resignation to the PBS Board of Directors.

Demicoli has been in the national media scene since 2008 has solidified his name as one of Malta’s foremost media personalities.

Whatever the future holds for Demicoli, we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours!

192 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 185 recoveries

Malta has registered 192 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,743 swab tests, while 185 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Wednesday 24rd February 2021, 71,562 vaccine doses were administered of which 22,501 were 2nd doses.

To date, Malta has registered 21,724 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 18,905 have recovered, 311 died and 2,508 are still active.

The Sovereign Art Foundation Students Prize Malta and Gozo

Established in 2017, the Sovereign Art Foundation Students Prize Malta and Gozo gives the opportunity for young artists in the community to be rewarded and further cultivate the artistic endeavour. With a strong belief that art and creativity are of immense value, the Foundation has accepted art pieces from multiple schools along providing a forum to promote the creative spark in educational institutions. For its second year, the Foundation is participating in the Global Student Prize, through which winners of the Judges Prize and Public Vote compete with other winners from other prizes globally – including Hong Kong, Singapore, Bahrain, etc. Voting is open until 26th February 2021.

Winners of last year and runner up were both short listed and consist of the best 20 finalists. 2021 will see the launch of the 4th Sovereign Art Foundation Students Prize in Malta and Gozo, with invitations open for all local secondary schools and colleges. This can be done by nominating and submitting ten of the best artworks produced by students. Entrants must be enrolled at either secondary or post-secondary institutions, and be 17 or under at time of entry. Acceptance period is 14th December 2020 to 22nd January 2021. The international judging panel will consist of Howard Bilton, Chairman of the Sovereign Group, Stephen Griffiths, Managing Director of Sovereign Trust (Malta) Limited, and an exclusive selection of local and international artists shortlisted from 20 Finalists.
