The popular artist’s wave of popular songs include Silence, Wolves, Friends, Happier and Alone, all of which have been certified multi-platinum in several countries and appeared in the Billboard Hot 100’s top 30.

Marshmello stated that he “can’t wait to hit the Isle of MTV Malta stage for the first time to perform in front of a high-energy crowd in such a beautiful location”, – “it’s going to be epic”.

Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Clayton Bartolo said that as Malta continues to return to normality after two years of pandemic-related disruption, he is convinced that Isle of MTV Malta will be another opportunity to showcase the country’s credentials in the entertainment sector with the return of the iconic global brand.

The past 13 Isle of MTV festivals have welcomed some of the world’s biggest stars such as Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, David Guetta, Martin Garrix and so many more. The festival will be broadcast on MTV internationally and will showcase Malta and the festival to social and digital stations across 180 countries around the world.

The festival will be followed by Isle of MTV Malta Music Week, a number of club nights and parties spanning between July 19 and July 24.

The long-awaited return of Isle of MTV is finally over as the event has finally been announced to be making it’s official comeback.

With some big names to perform in the 2022 edition, with DJ Marshmello set to headline, the event’s past is enough to get those who had a very special place in their hearts for the event excited.

Past performers at the Isle of MTV Malta include the likes of Jason Derulo, Bebe Rexha, Lady Gaga, Steve Aoki, Flo Rita, Black Eyed Peas and even David Guetta.

Broadcasting internationally in around 180 countries through TV and other platforms, the event has attracted around tens of thousands people to each of its iterations throughout the years.

The first Isle of MTV which was held on Maltese shores dates back to 2007, seeing the likes of Ira Losco sharing the stage with Akon, Maroon 5 and Enrique Iglesias.

From then on, the festival remained a mainstay of Maltese musical events, attracting people from all around the globe. However, as many other events, Isle of MTV had to halt events for two consecutive years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The return of the 14th edition in 2022 is a clear sign that mass events are back, and people can finally get a taste of what life was like before the pandemic. So book the date – 19th July 2022 – for our first step into post-COVID normalcy.
