Since October 2023, a national waste management and maintenance project has been ongoing, involving interventions in 21 localities, resulting in the removal of over 65 tonnes of waste.
Tasks such as cleaning, pruning, and maintenance were carried out collaboratively by the workers of the Cleaning and Maintenance Division alongside other governmental bodies. Utilizing 8 compact sweepers, the Division has cleaned more than 2,000 kilometers of roads, clearing approximately 30 tonnes of street residue by January alone.
With the introduction of new technological machinery, the Division plans to extend assistance to an additional 24 localities. Extensive training sessions conducted by foreign technical experts have prepared Clean Malta workers for the deployment of robots and sweepers.
This progress was highlighted during a press conference addressed by Minister for Tourism and Public Infrastructure Clayton Bartolo, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Infrastructure Glenn Bedingfield, and Clean Malta’s Director-General Ramon Deguara. The Minister emphasized the Government’s commitment to prioritizing public cleanliness, aiming to create a welcoming, clean, and healthy environment for both residents and visitors.
