All of the ocean plastic collected will be recycled by the activists as they work to keep the seabeds around the Maltese islands cleaner and safer for not just us, but our ecosystems.

Photos uploaded by the NGO show road signs which were tossed into the sea, and other big junk which was left to pollute our waters.

Nearly 70% Of All Maltese Adults Use Revolut

Jul 25 2024 Share

In an exclusive interview with Times of Malta, Ignacio Zunzunegui Gómez-Gil, Revolut’s head of growth for Southern Europe, disclosed that 68% of the Maltese adult population—approximately 300,000 people—now use Revolut. He mentioned that the number of Maltese users increased by 23% last year, and in 2024, it grew by another 7%.

The proportion of regular users, who actively use the app rather than just acquiring it, has also risen at the same rate. Ignacio emphasized, “It’s not that we’re just acquiring customers then losing them.”

Deposits via Revolut have surged by an impressive 40%, with more customers spending their money domestically through Revolut.

The interview also revealed a substantial 170% growth in the number of businesses using Revolut this year, indicating significant market expansion in Malta compared to other Southern European nations.

Ignacio highlighted Revolut’s ambition to become “one of the top three entities” in banking across Europe, noting their progression towards a more traditional banking model by introducing loans in certain countries and even mortgages in Ireland.

‘Malta Deserves Genuine Politicians’, Says PN Leader

'Malta Deserves Genuine Politicians', Says PN Leader

Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech issued a statement as court proceedings concerning the Vitals-Steward inquiry continues, which involves a number of former Labour politicians – including former PM Joseph Muscat and former Deputy PM Chris Fearne.

Grech said that Malta needs new leadership and a change in direction.

‘The lack of action from Prime Minister Robert Abela, even after what has emerged from the court, is genuinely worrying. Where are the serious decisions which he promised some weeks ago? This is a compromised Prime Minister’, wrote Grech.

‘Every day that passes wherein Robert Abela remains silent is confirmation of how complicit he is in the biggest frauds our country has ever experienced.’

‘Our country needs a cleaner leadership. The people require genuine and authentic politicians with a politics built around your needs.’

This comes after the magistrate ruled that Chris Fearne, Central Bank Governor Edward Scicluna and senior civil servants should stand trial for fraud, with the Prime Minister not issuing a comment or acting following the ruling.

Milan Travis Scott Concert Triggers False Earthquake Alarms

Jul 25 2024 Share

Milan was rocked to its foundation Tuesday night, and it wasn’t due to an earthquake. Travis Scott nearly brought the house down with his Circus Maximus Tour performance at Ippodromo Snai La Maura. The 33-year-old rap superstar transformed the tranquil Milanese night into a high-energy spectacle, attracting a massive crowd of 80,000 fans eager to experience his latest album, “Utopia.”

The concert’s intensity was so overwhelming that local residents reported feeling seismic activity. Many took to Twitter to express their amazement at the ground shaking beneath them. Billboard verified that the vibrations from the event could be felt miles away, underscoring the sheer impact of Scott’s performance.

Travis Scott captured and shared the breathtaking moments on Instagram, highlighting the wild mosh pits and the enormous crowd. His enthusiasm was evident in his caption: “Last night was a dream. This isn’t a festival. This is a show on the tour.” He also gave a shoutout to Stromberg and expressed his affection for Milan.

This wasn’t the first time Travis Scott’s concerts have created such a buzz. Last August, his fans rocked Rome’s Circus Maximus so hard that it registered as a 1.3-magnitude earthquake. However, not everyone is pleased with these high-energy events at historic sites. Alfonsina Russo from the Colosseum Archaeological Park expressed concerns to AGI news, emphasizing that such locations aren’t designed to withstand the strain of massive concerts.

Travis Scott’s European tour is far from over. Upcoming stops include Germany, Spain, and Portugal before he takes his electrifying performances to Latin America, with shows in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia. The grand finale will be a massive event at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca on September 21. American fans can also look forward to a one-night-only performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on October 9, before Scott concludes his tour in Australia and New Zealand.

From historic sites to modern stadiums, Travis Scott is leaving a seismic mark on the music world—one concert at a time.
