A new social accommodation building in Ħ’Attard sees 8 apartments allocated to persons with social needs. The apartments block located in Triq l-Għenba, forms part of a bigger project of social housing implemented all around the island.

Addressing a press conference during his visit to the apartment block, Social Housing Minister Roderick Galdes said that the apartments will be welcoming residents who were chosen through a system which considers the full needs of applicants for social housing.

‘As promised, we are sailing the ship to the dock’ said the Minister. ‘The biggest project of a social nature in Malta’s history is being finished off’.

‘Today, we are not marking the establishment of stone, but more importantly, the chance that families live their futures in stability’.

He emphasised that the apartments will not be sold off but will be used for social renting and will therefore remain owned by the government.

England came out victorious in their final group game of the World Cup in Qatar and the Man Utd striker found the net twice in their 3-0 win over Wales.

After netting his first of the evening, Rashford could be seen kneeling down and pointing to the sky.

After the game, the 25-year-old explained the reason behind this gesture. He said “Unfortunately I lost one of my friends a couple of days ago. “He’s had quite a long battle with cancer, so I’m pleased I managed to score for him. He’s always been a big supporter of mine. He was just a great person and I’m pleased he came into my life, really.”

Together with Kylian Mbappe of France, Cody Gakpo of Netherlands and Enner Valencia of Ecuador, Marcus Rashford is the leading scorer of the 2022 World Cup. They have so far scored three goals.

All-female referee team to take charge of World Cup game for the first time ever

All-female referee team to take charge of World Cup game for the first time ever

Thursday’s group-stage game between Costa Rica and Germany will be historic for many reasons, particularly because it will be the first time an all-female referee team will take charge of a men’s World Cup game for the first time ever.

French association football referee Stéphanie Frappart will be the first woman to referee at a men’s World Cup, with Brazil’s Neuza Back and Mexico’s Karen Diaz Medina assisting at Al Bayt Stadium.

The ground-breaking football official told BBC Sport that the team is well aware of the pressure but it will not change their approach: calm, focused, concentrated and not at all concerned about the media.

Back in 2020, Frappart became the first woman to referee a men’s Champion League match and was also the first woman to take charge of a major men’s competition when Liverpool met Chelsea in the 2019 European Super Cup.

Frappart is joined by fellow female referees Salima Mukansanga from Rwanda and Yoshimi Yamashita from Japan as part of the Qatar World Cup’s 36-person referee team.
