New Scheme Launched to Assist Voluntary Groups in Organising Community Events

A €600,000 investment has been announced to support voluntary organisations in organising public events across Maltese and Gozitan communities.
The financial assistance scheme was launched by Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government Owen Bonnici and Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment Byron Camilleri.
The scheme will run over two years and aims to assist organisations with costs related to maintaining order and security during events. This initiative complements existing support provided to feast organisations and other community-based activities.
Developed through a joint effort between LESA and the Arts Council Malta, the scheme highlights the importance of law enforcement services in delivering high-quality public events.
Minister Bonnici said the investment will benefit numerous voluntary organisations and enhance accessibility to public events. He emphasised that this funding directly addresses the logistical and security costs that event organisers often face, making such activities more inclusive.
Minister Camilleri added that this structured €600,000 fund provides essential order and security services for events organised by local NGOs, relieving financial pressure on them while strengthening community policing efforts.
This scheme replaces a previous initiative launched earlier in the legislature, which came to an end this year after a two-year term.
