New Pedestrian Zone Opens As Restoration Begins At Ħal Kirkop Parish Church

In the heart of Ħal Kirkop, on Triq il-Kbira, the Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works, Hon. Omar Farrugia, together with Parish Priest Fr Martin Cardona, announced the commencement of restoration and maintenance works on the parvis of the Parish Church dedicated to Saint Leonard Abbot.

“This pedestrian zone was developed by the Public Works Department in recent months following a request from the Local Council,” said Mr Farrugia.

“The restoration of the church parvis is another clear example of our commitment to supporting community-led initiatives and preserving the cultural heritage that shapes our national identity,” Mr Farrugia continued.

Ħal Kirkop Mayor, Mr Matthew Agius Zammit, expressed his gratitude to the Public Works Department for their contribution, which has provided another valuable space for residents to enjoy in the heart of the village.

Parish Priest Fr Martin Cardona also welcomed the announcement, expressing his appreciation for the Department’s support in the construction of a new parvis for the Parish Church.
