May 8 2023 Share

Competing in the Firenze Spring Festival Relays, four Maltese female athletes – Claire Azzopardi, Janet Richard, Charlotte Wingfield and Carla Scicluna – set a new national record of 44.98 seconds.

This was the first time Malta registered anything below 45 seconds, with the previous record, now broken, being a time of 45.37 seconds.

The Maltese women 4×100 relay team had smashed the record last April, meaning that the new record was achieved in less than a month and just ahead of the GSSE 2023, set to be held in Malta.

Local beekeeper and president for the Federation for Hunting & Conservation (FKNK) Lucas Micallef shared a snippet from when he captured a swarm of bees from a nearby plant in his vicinity.

The video shows him placing their new home – a large box used for keeping the insects and acts as a hive – beneath a plant which has a massive cluster of bees hanging together.

Donning protective gear to avoid any nasty stings as he momentarily disrupts their peace, he shakes the swarm off the plant so that it finds new abode in the beehive box.

Such boxes are especially designed to safeguard specific bee swarms and keep their community intact when they transfer into a new home.

Micallef is, of course, well-trained in such activities, so don’t try this yourself without the proper training or gear. Bees are very protective of their family and home!

Local photographer and videographer Albert Camilleri was in the United Kingdom on the newly crowned King Charles III’s big day this weekend, and documented the atmosphere around the historic moment live.

This was the first coronation many got the opportunity to witness as Charles’ mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was the longest serving monarch in history with over 70 years under her belt.

Camilleri captured various moments from the coronation day – from the parades, the jubilant crowd as well as some military jets zooming through the air as they left a colourful streak to symbolise the UK flag.

Now we’ll let Albert’s work do the talking for us. Did you follow King Charles the III’s coronation this weekend?

A company is paying someone $1K to watch all Fast movies

A company is paying someone $1K to watch all Fast movies
May 8 2023 Share

A company by the name of FinanceBuzz is looking for someone to binge watch the entire Fast & Furious franchise to assess the damage done to automobiles across all 10 movies.

‘At FinanceBuzz, we love a good side hustle, and you should buckle up for this one’ the call for applicants reads.

This comes ahead of the upcoming release of Fast X on May 19th, and it is asking someone to watch more than 20 hours of the saga, during which the chosen one will assess and track damages from all the car crashes.

The team will then use the findings to estimate the insurance impact of the franchise’s reckless driving.

The ‘Fast & Furious Claims Adjuster’ will be paid $1,000 plus another $100 to cover the cost of any streaming fees, movie tickets and snacks.

‘As a bonus, you’ll get a healthy education about the value of family’ it reads.

‘At FinanceBuzz, we help people save money on their biggest expenses, including car insurance, and we wondered — what would that kind of driving do to your auto insurance costs? To find out, we need help taking inventory of the accidents in the movies. We’re also curious if the number of wrecks in these moves has increased or decreased over the franchise’s history.’

Applications are due May 19th and the candidate will be selected by May 26th and will have two weeks to finish binging the movie franchise. However, unfortunately for car-heads in Malta, the applicant has to be US based. But hey, this isn’t too late for a local company to do something similar.
