Minister for Health and Active Ageing Jo Etienne Abela and Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing Malcolm Paul Agius Galea inaugurate a new CT Scan at St Vincent De Paul Long Term Care Facility

The new scanner will primarily serve San Vinċenz residents, while also benefiting older adults in other care homes and those aged 65+ living in the community. This investment builds on recent upgrades, which include two portable X-ray machines and a bone density scanner.

Health and Active Ageing Minister Jo Etienne Abela said the scanner will reduce patient transfers to Mater Dei Hospital, improve radiology services, and cut down waiting times. It is also equipped to cater for obese patients.

Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi highlighted how EU funds are being strategically used to strengthen Malta’s healthcare system and reduce waiting times, while Parliamentary Secretary Malcolm Paul Agius Galea noted that the location of the scanner allows elderly patients to receive vital care in a familiar and comfortable environment.
