The Planning Authority and the Union Professjonisti fl-Ambjent u fl-Ippjanar have signed a new collective agreement that sets the employment terms for the Authority’s professional staff.

The signing was led by the Minister for Gozo and Planning, Clint Camilleri, alongside the Planning Authority’s Executive Chairperson Johann Buttigieg and union representatives including President Christopher Attard and Secretary General Mark O’Neil.

Minister Camilleri explained the agreement will bring salary increases and improved allowances, aiming to enhance overall pay and benefits. He added the agreement also provides clearer guidelines on working conditions and supports a better balance between work and personal life. The agreement promotes continuous professional development and includes measures to protect employee wellbeing.

The agreement will last until 2030 and covers 174 professional employees. It reflects the Authority’s commitment to attracting and retaining skilled staff while maintaining high-quality planning services.

Johann Buttigieg said the new agreement not only offers competitive pay but also encourages younger professionals to join. He highlighted the Authority’s focus on family-friendly policies and plans to improve efficiency through better technology.

The agreement introduces flexible work arrangements and increased study leave to support staff development. A new enforcement allowance was also created for officers working in the Enforcement Directorate.

Union President Christopher Attard described the package as competitive and designed to attract new recruits while keeping current staff satisfied.

The Planning Authority looks forward to continued cooperation with its employees to build a more efficient and successful organisation.
