New Call Recording Feature on IOS 18.1 Beta

New Call Recording Feature on IOS 18.1 Beta
Jul 31 2024 Share

Apple’s iOS 18.1 developer preview introduces a new AI-powered feature for recording and transcribing phone calls. Available to beta users, the feature adds a ‘record’ button to the call screen. Announced at the June Worldwide Developers Conference, this tool is ideal for journalists conducting interviews or for anyone needing to capture important conversations.

Once activated, all call participants will hear a notification stating, “This call will be recorded”. The phone app will automatically capture the call and generate a transcription, which will be saved in the Notes app. Additionally, users will receive an AI-generated summary and the complete audio recording in the Notes app.

To try this feature, download the iOS 18.1 beta. Be aware that beta software can have bugs, so it is recommended to use a backup device. The same feature will be available on iPads with M1 silicon or later with the release of iPadOS 18.1  in Q3 2024.

Jul 31 2024 Share

Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef is a prominent name being touted for the position of Labour Party Deputy Leader of Party Affairs.

One such supporter of this role is newly elected MEP Daniel Attard, who approved the calls by many for Jason’s taking on of the position.

‘Jason is at the roots of the Labour Party. He climbed step by step up the scales of the party with hard work and not with pretensions.’

He went on to highlight Jason’s many successes as General Secretary, in Valletta as well as Ta’ Qali National Park.

‘As Prime Minister Robert Abela himself said, with Jason your mind is secure that things will work out and be achieved.’

‘Above all, Jason is consistent and integral. You might not agree with him, but you know where you stand with him.’

UPDATE

MaltaDaily reached out to Jason Micallef who said: “I am seriously thinking about it.”

This statement came about after Jason Micallef explained to MaltaDaily that during the past few days there has been a reach out to him by multiple sources, many party delegates and members of parliament, as well as some cabinet members.

Micellef said he is overwhelmed at this positive outcry and response, and although he has not yet decided what he is going to do he is still “seriously thinking about it.”

Olympic Surfer Caught Celebrating In Mid Air

Olympic Surfer Caught Celebrating In Mid Air
Jul 31 2024 Share

Surfer Gabriel Medina provided one of the most iconic moments of the Olympics during a competition at Teahupo’o in Tahiti.

Captured by Agence France-Presse photographer Jérôme Brouillet, Medina’s airborne celebration after riding a massive wave appeared almost surreal, as if he was hovering on a cloud.

The image, taken from a boat, showed Medina pointing skyward with perfect balance, creating a scene that some initially believed was digitally altered.

Brouillet, who anticipated the moment based on his experience and understanding of Medina’s style, captured the shot just as the surfer emerged from the wave.

The image quickly went viral, with Brouillet acknowledging the overwhelming reaction it received on social media and major sports outlets like ESPN.

Medina, a three-time world champion, had hoped for a perfect score of 10 but received a 9.9, the highest of the Olympics so far. Later, he shared his gratitude through a Bible verse on Instagram.

The photo’s allure lies in its almost impossible appearance, with Medina seemingly defying gravity. Brouillet, modest about his achievement, sees the image as memorable but understands that its lasting impact is for others to judge.
