Nearly 2 Tonnes Of Waste Pulled From Marsamxett Harbour In Major Clean-Up Operation

Almost 2 tonnes of waste was successfully removed from Marsamxett Harbour and its surrounding areas, following another large-scale sea and coastal clean-up held in collaboration with multiple entities and companies.

The clean-up, which brought together numerous dedicated volunteers, forms part of an ongoing effort to safeguard Malta’s marine environment and raise awareness about the scale of underwater waste.

📦 Here’s what was collected:

•Tyres: 1,518kg

•Plastic bottles: 213kg

•Metal: 112kg

•Mixed waste: 28.9kg

•Cigarette butts: 1kg

Organisers expressed heartfelt thanks to all those who showed up and gave their time to support this meaningful initiative.

The operation was made possible through a joint effort involving Sostenbilita, the AFM, Ambjent Malta, Clean Malta, Vikings Sailing Club, and Grand Hotel Excelsior.
