Last Saturday, boxer Nico Ali Walsh beat Jordan Weeks to win his first ever professional fight. What’s special about Nico is that his grandfather is Muhammed Ali, known as ‘The Greatest’ by boxing fans all over the world. Nico won the fight by TKO (Technical Knock-out) in the latter stages of the first round.

Nico is the son of Muhammed’s daughter Rasheda, who uses her platform to speak-out against social injustices. Nico, in an interview after the fight, said “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone that supported me! I brought my grandfather in the ring with me by wearing his shorts for the first and final time as a professional fighter. I’m more than proud to say: The Legacy Continues.” About being under his grandfather’s shadow he had this to say “I’ve never been able to escape my grandfather, no matter what sport I played,” and continued to say “I’m starting to embrace it. It’s very hard to do, but you have to embrace the legacy, no matter what it is. Everybody becomes stronger when they embrace what they’re destined to do.”
