It came as no surprise that Miriana Conte’s 2022 entry ‘Look What You’ve Done Now’ is an empowering, feel-good bop. The 21-year-old came into this year’s competition with a supply of sass and energy, pairing the performance with stellar choreography and bright, vivid stage detailing.

The contemporary had also featured in song competitions beyond our shores such as ‘Sanremo Junior’, ‘Io Canto’ and ‘Una Stella Sta Nascendo’ in Italy.

Infusing familiar pop sounds with folk and electro, Baklava’s violin-sprinkled performance definitely brought some vibes to the stage.

Jade Vella, otherwise known as Giada is no stranger to the Maltese stage and her track ‘Revelación’ is a testament to that. Layering English verses with Spanish influences and R’n’B and Reggaeton styles, this year’s entry definitely brought some sauce to the Eurovision stage.

Jade had also taken part in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest in 2017 with her track ‘Seconds Away’.

First model with Down syndrome welcomed by Victoria’s Secret

First model with Down syndrome welcomed by Victoria’s Secret

A Puerto Rican model has just made history as the first Victoria’s Secret model to have Down’s syndrome. 

By the name of Sofia Jirau, aged 24, she joined 17 other women in the brand’s new Love Cloud Collection on Valentine’s Day, modelling a line of underwear. Jirau herself took to Instagram to write that ‘one day I dreamed of it, I worked on it and today it is a dream come true.’

I can finally tell you my biggest secret. I am the first Victoria’s Secret model with Down’s syndrome!’ she said. The only second Puerto Rican model to star on a Victoria’s Secret campaign, She follows the steps of Joan Smalls, who began modelling in 2010.

Jirau launched her modelling career in 2019 alongside her own online store called Alavett. She went on to make her New York Fashion Week debut in 2020 and started a Spanish-language campaign called No Limits to show the possibilities for people with Down’s syndrome. 

‘Thank you Victoria’s Secret for seeing me as a model who has #NoLimits and making me part of the inclusive Love Cloud Collection campaign’ she said on Instagram. Victoria’s Secret itself is in the middle of a rebrand as it attempts to appeal to all types of women.
