3 East African Nationals Following Court Rulings

An official statement from the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security and Labour regarding recent immigration enforcement actions.

Three irregular immigrants have been deported from Malta and returned to their countries of origin in East Africa.
The decision followed the determination that they were not refugees, and the courts recently rejected the second interim measure they had filed against the Principal Immigration Officer.
Over several years, these individuals refused to cooperate with immigration authorities. Some had submitted multiple asylum applications, all of which were ultimately denied due to ineligibility.
The operation also complemented another successful return carried out by the Police, involving an immigrant from a different European country who had refused to leave voluntarily.
In recent months, 108 irregular immigrants have been returned to their countries of origin after entering Malta illegally and being ineligible for asylum.
This figure excludes individuals deported as part of the Immigration Police’s routine daily operations.
