Mildred Azzopardi Identified As Valletta Crash Victim

Mildred Azzopardi, aged 62, has been named as the victim of a tragic road accident that occurred last night in Xatt il-Barriera, Valletta.

She lost her life after becoming trapped between two vehicles in the collision.

According to reports, Mildred had been crossing the road with her husband after an evening spent fishing by the seafront.

A Subaru Impreza, driven by a 23-year-old man from Paola, collided with a parked Ford Fiesta. In the moment of impact, Mildred was caught between the two vehicles and died at the scene.

A 69-year-old man from Ħamrun, who had been inside the stationary car, sustained serious injuries.

Mildred’s sister, Frida Farrugia, shared a heartbreaking message on Facebook: “Dear Mildred, it’s not fair; your life was cut short too soon last night by a reckless irresponsible driver.”

This was the third fatal traffic incident reported that day. Earlier, a 71-year-old woman lost her life in Fgura, while a 58-year-old man died in a separate incident in Pietà.
