Bernard Grech has stated that the Nationalist Party’s trackless tram system proposal will cost up to €2.8 billion and will be completed by 2027.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, the Nationalist Party leader outlined his party’s proposal and likened it to the Labour government’s metro system plans, with the aforementioned system estimated to rack up costs of €6.2 billion by its 2042 completion date. Going into further detail on comparison between the two, Grech said that the trackless tram will cover 48 localities while the metro would only cover 21.

These revelation come in light of Robert Abela’s recent statements that while the PN has presented its electoral manifesto, costings have not been revealed. While the trackless tram proposal only mentions Malta, Grech has stated that the pN does not exclude considering another system for Gozo.
