His outstanding performances were pivotal in helping Spain secure their fourth European Championship title with a 2-1 victory over England in the final.

Despite being substituted at half-time in the final, Rodri was instrumental in Luis de la Fuente’s squad’s journey to Berlin. Spain equaled France’s Euro ’84 record by maintaining a 100% win rate on their way to the trophy.

Rodri’s consistent excellence throughout the tournament and the entire season has sparked speculation about a potential Ballon d’Or win.

Since the start of 2023, he has amassed eight trophies and four Player of the Tournament awards, while losing only four games. No Manchester City player has ever won the prestigious Ballon d’Or.

Environment Authorities Investigating Green Water Reports

Environment Authorities Investigating Green Water Reports

The Environmental Resources Authority (ERA) and Environmental Health Directorate issued a statement revealing that they are investigating reports of green water in a number of bays around Malta.

Samples are set to be collected and analysed so as to determine the cause of these episodes.

‘It is to be noted that such algal blooms may occur due to high temperatures and reduced water circulation, conditions typical of heatwaves such as the one we are experiencing.’

Commenting on the situation, Opposition leader Bernard Grech said that the Maltese people and those who visit the islands deserve a clean sea.

‘It is not acceptable that after the investment that was done by the Nationalist Government on drainage systems, the government did not do anything to the extent that various bays ended up closed due to an overbearing of drainage.’

‘It is even less acceptable that there are bays which are still contaminated a month and a half after they were closed over the issue.’

It remains to be revealed what is causing the green hue.

Argentina Beat Colombia To Win 2024 Copa America

Argentina Beat Colombia To Win 2024 Copa America

Argentina clinched the 2024 Copa América championship with a 1-0 victory over Colombia, courtesy of Lautaro Martínez’s extra-time goal in the 112th minute.

Martínez, the competition’s leading scorer with five goals, scored on a breakaway following a turnover. Argentina, the defending champions and 2022 World Cup winners, were tournament favorites and remained unbeaten throughout.

Despite losing Lionel Messi to an ankle injury in the 66th minute, they secured the title.

The match experienced a delay of over an hour due to fans, many without tickets, rushing the stadium. Videos showed mostly Colombia supporters breaching security and evading police, resulting in several people requiring medical treatment. The situation was eventually controlled, allowing ticketed fans to take their seats.

Colombia started the match energetically, with several attempts on goal testing Argentina’s goalie Emiliano Martínez.

The defeat ended Colombia’s 28-game international win streak, which had begun after their last loss to Argentina in February 2022. Missing defender Daniel Muñoz, sent off in the semifinal against Uruguay, Colombia faced a challenging match.

Messi, having joined Inter Miami after stints at Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, will not participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics, with the next World Cup two years away.
