Mario De Marco Pays Tribute To Father 15 Years After Passing

Nationalist MP Mario de Marco took to social media to commemorate 15 years since the passing of his beloved father and former president of Malta, Guido de Marco.
‘Today marks fifteen years since my father passed away. It feels like it was only yesterday. Not a day goes by without meeting someone who mentions him’, wrote Mario.
‘He left us an immense legacy of memories and values that we must cherish and uphold every day. That is what he deserves. People of his generation were unique.’
‘For many, he is remembered as a politician who practised the politics of persuasion, a lawyer who always fought for justice, a teacher not only of law but, above all, of life, and an eternal student, always eager to learn from the experiences of others.’
‘For me and my siblings, he was a father who, despite countless commitments, was always there for us. Memories and experiences that unite us and will never leave us’, he concluded.
Guido de Marco served as the sixth president between 1999 and 2004 as well as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior, Justice and Minister for Foreign Affairs.
His passing in 2010 prompted three days of national morning.
