Marcus Rashford and mum help out at UK food bank

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford and his mum paid a visit to the FareShare Food Bank Warehouse to lend a helping hand as part of his efforts against child food poverty. 

Rashford took to Twitter to announce that that food bank’s warehouse will be named after his mother, Melanie and said that the country’s real heroes are those who work in the towns and villages by doing charity work. 

He had previously wrote to the UK’s members of parliament to talk about a food voucher scheme implemented during his childhood.

Rival Libyan factions sign cease-fire deal

The two rivalling Libyan factions have signed a permanent deal to cease fire after years of war.

In a deal mediated by the United Nations, the two factions are to engage in discussion to find a solution to the post-2011 chaos following the toppling of the uprising and death of Moammar Gadhafi. 

It is unclear as to how the cease-fire will come into effect but the respective military units will return to their camps in what is “a moment that will go down in history” according to U.N envoy for Libya, Stephanie Turco Williams.

The Flaming Lips hold socially-distanced bubble concert

American rock band The Flaming Lips have held a socially-distanced concert where every attendee was encased in a bubble, literally. 

The concert, held in Oklahoma City, hosted 100 fans encased in inflatable balls. 

Frontman Wayne Coyne stated that he had envisaged this idea long before COVID-19 was an issue and didn’t think it would ever come to life.

Borat 2 drops today!

The sequel to Sacha Baron Cohen’s film ‘Borat’ is finally out on Amazon Prime today and it looks like it may create more controversy than its predecessor.

In an interview with the New York Times, Cohen reiterated the importance of releasing the film before the US election, so it can “remind the women who they are voting for”
