Manchester United sign two world-class players in their quest for the Premier League

Jul 29 2021 Share

These past couple of weeks have been quite eventful for all Manchester United fans, as they announced the signings of two of the worlds best players, Raphaël Varane and Jadon Sancho. These players will surely help the Red Devils take the next step and become a club aspiring to win the Premier League, instead of only aiming for Champions League qualification.

Jadon Sancho, who the club paid €85 million for, is a right-winger brought in to fill the quite evident hole in their attack. In past seasons many United fans noticed the lack of natural right wingers at the club. United, last season relied heavily on players like Mason Greenwood, who is more comfortable in the center of the park. Fan favourite, Marcus Rashford, who seems better as a left winger and likes to cut inside was also used as a right winger. Manchester United have been linked with Jadon Sancho for over a year now so to finally get their preferred right winger ,and not look for other options, must be a good feeling for fans and staff alike. This move will also feel like a homecoming for Jadon, as before his move to German giants Borussia Dortmund, he was a part of the academy at Manchester City, Manchester United’s local rivals.

Raphaël Varane, who even coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær called a “proven winner”, will add the experience and quality needed in the Manchester United backline. This signing felt like a signing the great Sir Alex Ferguson would have done back in his day, luring the world’s best to come and play at Old Trafford. The French center back was a boyhood fan of the club and considered  club legend Rio Ferdinand as his hero growing up. Varane, who is a four times Champions League winner with Real Madrid, and one time World Cup winner will add the winning mentality the team needs as few of their players have actually won a trophy of significance.

With more players like Kieran Trippier and Eduardo Camavinga rumored to be also coming in, Manchester United fans can be assured of a bright future for their club.  Varane and Sancho are the signings the club needed to indicate that their back.

Gaming fanatics and casual players around the world took to shops the very day of the launch and have not stopped since, with the latest PlayStation’s sales performance depending on the company’s ability to keep up with the demand as the console remains sold out around the world.

Man offers sex with wife for payment; shows up with gun when refused

Jul 29 2021 Share

A 49-year-old man from Birżebbuġa has been put on a 3-year probation period after being found guilty for stealing €500 from a shop in St. Venera in December 2018.

He was taken to court on counts of aggravated theft, keeping the victim hostage, carrying an unlicensed weapon and damaging third-party properties.

Upon visiting the store, the man proposed a sexual encounter with his wife to the shop owner instead of payment. The owner declined the offer and asked the man to leave, after which he eventually returned with the unlicensed firearm, demanding that the owner give him €500 from the cash register.

The man’s probation officer has reported that he has since found a job and plans on opening his own business in the future. He was since fined with €700 for carrying the firearm and was ordered to refund the money he stole.

Hibernians advance to third round of a European tournament for the first time ever

Jul 29 2021 Share

On Tuesday night , local club Hibernians F.C. welcomed Folgore F.C. from San Marino,  to Malta with a 4-2 win, despite a frightening 1st half for the Paolites going 2-1 down just before half-time. The win over two legs resulted in Hibernians qualifying for the 3rd qualifying round, something they have never done before.

Hibernians went into this game with confidence, knowing they beat their opponents away from home 3-1 the other week. This confidence was turned into complacency from the Maltese side in the first half. Knowing they needed to score to calm down there nerves and of fans and staff alike, the Hibs players rose to the occasion and did just that, scoring three goals. The goals were scored by French attacker Wilfried Domoraud, Malta striker Jurgen Degabriele and dynamic midfielder Jake Grech.

This historic qualification is something the club and fans should be proud of since it rarely happens. Hibernians F.C., which is also celebrating it’s 100 year anniversary, will either face Latvian side Riga F.C. or North Macedonian team KF Shkëndija. Knowing that a win will mean a record breaking playoff place, the players will surely be up for it against either team.
