Replay have reported that one of the most followed football clubs in Malta, Manchester United will be returning to Malta for a training camp. The Red Devils have already been in Malta 21 years ago, and their return could also be accompanied by a match against one of Malta’s Premier League clubs. Manchester United had already played against Birkirkara FC back in 2000, winning with a score of 5-1.
Replay stated that this news is still set to be confirmed but the information will be made official in the coming days. VisitMalta has struck a deal with the English team in November 2019. The deal was, as stated by the Tourism Minister, was to promote Malta through the popular team, with the agreement costing around €20 million over the period of three years. This news is surely to excite Manchester fans who could not travel due to COVID-19 to watch them play.
