Maltese Teams Shine On World Eightball Pool Stage

The Malta Under-18 Eightball Pool Team continued their incredible run of success by winning their third straight world title, overcoming South Africa 8-4 in the final, with Vince Saliba leading a dominant squad featuring Jake Castaldi, Chaylon Castaldi, Denzel Falzon, and Nick Muscat.

Malta’s winning streak extended beyond the youth category, as the Over-50s team that was made up of Ivan Rizzo, Marco Bonello, Manuel Mallia, Kevin Mercieca, Frans Abdilla, and Antoine Aquilina, and expertly managed by veteran Pasquale Sciberras defeated Northern Ireland in the final to claim the title for the second time.

Meanwhile, the Men’s National Team impressed by defeating Ireland 11-7 in the semifinals before narrowly missing out on the crown after a hard-fought loss to England in the final.

Earlier in the week, Malta celebrated another historic moment by winning the World Team Shootout Event for the first time, edging out Wales 5-4 in a thrilling decider.
