The sand, imported from Jordan, is scheduled to arrive in Malta around June 11, 2024. The delivery and spreading process will commence at Buġibba Perched Beach on Wednesday, June 12, and continue at St. George’s Bay on Monday, June 17, 2024. The MTA will keep the public informed of any adjustments to this schedule.
To ensure traffic safety, specific roads will be closed off during the unloading operations: Triq ix-Xatt ta’ San Ġorġ in St. George’s Bay and part of Dawret il-Gżejjer in Buġibba Perched Beach.
The MTA has also planned for night-time work to expedite the process and minimise disruption to the public.
The MTA appreciates the public’s cooperation and apologises for any inconvenience caused during this essential maintenance operation.
